ام كلثوم, ولدت 4 مايو 1904 بقرية بقرية طماى الزهايرة مركز السنبلاوين محافظة الدقهلية . في منزل متواضع في شارع (داير الناحية) . والدها الشيخ إبراهيم البلتاجى . وكان يعمل مؤذناً لمسجد القرية . ويؤدى التواشيح ويقوم بإحياء الليالى الدينية المقامة في قريته والقرى المجاورة .أطلق الأب على مولودته اسم (أم كلثوم) تبركاً بالسيدة أم كلثوم إحدى بنات الرسول (صلى الله عليه وسلم) . والكلثوم في اللغة العربية . هو الحرير الذى يوضع في رأس العلم .. أم كلثوم في العاشرة . تردد بإتقان القصائد والتواشيح التى سمعتها من والدها وتنافس أخاها (خالد) في سرعة الحفظ في العام نفسه يصطحبها والدها لتقف أمام الجمهور وتغنى لأول مرة في بيت شيخ البلد بقريتها
